About the Program
Join Andy Hament, Managing Partner of FordHarrison's Melbourne office, at the South Brevard Society for Human Resource Management (SBSHRM) chapter meeting. Andy will review important, recent trends in federal and state employment and labor laws. This presentation will cover developments that human resources professionals must know to keep their workplace legally compliant.

Participants will learn about:

  • Equal employment opportunity/ antidiscrimination laws and related agency initiatives and court rulings – ranging from an employer's duty to accommodate an array of applicant and employee religious beliefs, to tips on accommodating transgender employees;
  • FMLA, ADA and an employer's obligations when it comes to addressing difficult intermittent and extended leave situations;
  • The National Labor Relations Board's new union election rules and the Board's continued attack on typical employer rules governing employee conduct/discipline, use of email, social media, confidentiality, company logos, and conflicts of interest;
  • New union organizing tactics;
  • Wage and hour litigation and state and Department of Labor initiatives seeking to expand employers' minimum wage and overtime obligations; and
  • Pending federal and state employment legislation.
