About the Program

Considered organized labor's "top legislative priority" for 2009, the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) is a proposed amendment to the National Labor Relations Act that would radically change labor-management relations in the United States. If passed, the EFCA would make it much easier for unions to organize non-union employers and significantly reduce employer bargaining power during initial bargaining with a labor union. As a result, proactive employee relations strategies will be essential for any employer who wants to remain union-free.

Join Ford & Harrison attorneys Dave Hagaman, Jerry Coker and Rick Warren for a lunch briefing to discuss:

  • Why organized labor's assault on workplace democracy demands immediate attention from employers.
  • How the EFCA would virtually eliminate the NLRB secret-ballot process and undermine the democratic "rule of law" in the workplace.
  • How the EFCA could severely weaken employer bargaining leverage and transform the process by which employers and unions negotiate collective bargaining agreements.
  • Implementation of a proactive Strategic Action Plan in response to employers' increased vulnerability to union organizing under the EFCA and more aggressive union tactics.
