Executive Summary: The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has announced that it is extending the time to submit comments on its proposed amendments to its regulations implementing Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act. The proposed rule was published on December 9, 2011 and the comment period was set to end on February 7, 2012. The OFCCP has extended the comment period by 14 days and will now end on February 21, 2012.
As discussed in more detail in our December 9, 2011 Legal Alert, OFCCP Proposes Changes to Rehabilitation Act Regulations, http://www.fordharrison.com/shownews.aspx?show=7797, the proposed changes are the first revisions to the regulations since 1996. If they become final, there will be significant additional requirements placed upon the contracting community.
