Legal Alert: Countdown Starts for Effective Date of Revised Veterans' and Rehabilitation Act Regulations

Date   Sep 24, 2013

Today, September 24, 2013, the OFCCP published in the federal register the Final Rule revising the VEVRAA and Rehabilitation Act regulations.

Today, September 24, 2013, the OFCCP published in the federal register the Final Rule revising the VEVRAA and Rehabilitation Act regulations.  This means the revised regulations will take effect March 24, 2014, which is 180 days from today's date.

Current contractors with a written affirmative action program (AAP) already in place on the effective date may maintain that AAP until the end of their AAP year and delay their compliance with the AAP requirements of Subpart C of the Final Rule until the start of their next AAP cycle.  Contractors should, however, begin updating their employment practices and IT systems to come into compliance with the revised requirements of Subpart C of the Final Rule as soon as possible.  Additionally, contractors must comply with the other requirements of the Final Rule, in subparts A, B, D and E, by March 24, 2014.

For more information on the revised regulations, please see our August 28, 2013 Legal Alert, OFCCP Releases Final Veterans and Rehabilitation Act Rules.  FordHarrison will be conducting a webinar on the revised regulations on October 2, 2013.  Registration information is available at http://www.fordharrison.com/9585.
