Angela S. Fontana

Angela Fontana's practice is focused on the defense of management in employment disputes.

She represents and counsels employers in California state and federal employment law matters, especially involving claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination and retaliation, leaves of absence and accommodations under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Pregnancy Disability Leave Law (PDLL), California Labor Code, California Health and Safety Code, and sick leave and kin care laws.  She also represents employers against claims of breach of employment contract, defamation and unfair business practices.

Angela has represented clients in a variety of industries, including health care.  She also advises employers on development and implementation of policies, practices and employee handbooks compliant with state and federal law.

Prior to joining FordHarrison, Angela was an associate for a civil litigation firm, where she concentrated her practice on representing both public and private employers. During law school, she clerked for the Employment Litigation Section of the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

  • Obtained summary judgment in Los Angeles Superior Court on claims for gender discrimination by multiple plaintiffs.
  • Obtained summary judgment in Riverside Superior Court and in Nevada County Superior Court on lawsuits alleging disability discrimination, failure to engage in an interactive process and failure to accommodate a disability.
  • Procured dismissal of case alleging race discrimination and retaliation in United States District Court.
  • Obtained summary judgment in Los Angeles Superior Court on claims of gender discrimination, sexual harassment and defamation.
  • Obtained summary judgment on claims of sexual harassment and retaliation in United States District Court.
  • Obtained summary judgment in Riverside Superior Court on claims of race and national origin discrimination and wrongful termination.
  • Secured dismissal of multiple defendants from lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging wage and hour violations, breach of contract and unfair business practices.
