Carlton King's entire legal career has concentrated on civil litigation with particular emphasis on trying cases in the courtroom. 

In recent years, he has drawn on his years of trial experience as a mediator and arbitrator, assisting in the resolution of disputes through ADR.

Carlton brings a practical sensibility to dispute resolution and has dealt with a myriad of commercial subject matters. During his career he has trained many young lawyers and for several years he managed the litigation practice of FordHarrison.  He is admitted to practice in all Georgia courts and has tried cases in a number of jurisdictions other than Georgia.

Carlton has served on seminar panels addressing civil litigation and trial practice, and has participated as an instructor in trial advocacy programs for law students and practitioners.  He is an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law.

  • Participated in case in which Ga. Supreme Court set rules for discontinuing life support ("Right to Die" case)
  • Obtained jury verdict setting will aside because of undue influence
  • Convinced jury that defendants had misappropriated computer trade secrets from national corporation.
  • Obtained $600,000 jury verdict for law firm against former partner for misappropriation of business opportunity.
  • Obtained jury verdict for defamation of seven agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
  • Obtained jury verdict in favor of bank in discriminatory lending case.
  • Obtained summary judgment against defendant in negligence case, and held it on appeal.
  • Obtained jury verdict in favor of landowner in specific performance case.
  • Obtained jury verdict in employment discrimination case for large grocery chain.
  • Obtained jury verdict against lawyer for professional negligence in writing a will.
  • Successfully defended bank trust officer accused of negligently managing trust account.
  • Obtained jury verdict in favor of department store in false arrest case.
