Jim Brown concentrates his practice on labor relations law (NLRB matters), employment discrimination law, defense of wage and hour matters including the FLSA, the Davis Bacon Act and the Service Contract Act and mediation.
He regularly represents employers before the National Labor Relations Board, the State of Florida Public Employees Relations Commission and the United States Department of Labor. Jim is a certified mediator who has mediated over 800 labor and employment cases including several FLSA collective actions involving major industries.
Jim has extensive experience representing government contractors, construction companies and public employers in labor and employment matters. Jim is a frequent speaker on labor and employment matters before trade and professional groups.
Jim represents several public employers including The City of Clermont, The City of Apopka, The City of Dunnellon, The Lake County School Board, The Orange County School Board, and the Reedy Creek Improvement District. Jim has conducted numerous public sector investigations on issues ranging from sexual harassment to employee misconduct.
Jim was chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Florida Bar in 1984-1985.
