OUR PEOPLE

Lyne Richardson is the managing partner of the Los Angeles office.

She focuses her practice on employment law, litigation and client counseling. Lyne also oversees the employment litigation of the Los Angeles office and has litigated all forms of employment law cases in both state and federal courts in California and the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the DLSE and the EEOC. She is a frequent lecturer on labor and employment issues and has published a variety of articles on various employment related topics.

Lyne is a member of the Editorial Board for the California Employment Law Newsletter and is a frequent contributor to the publication. During law school, Lyne was Managing Editor of the Entertainment Law Review, and received scholastic achievement awards, including the American Jurisprudence Award in contracts.

Prior to attending law school, Lyne worked as a White House intern and was a member of the White House speech-writing staff for President Reagan. She also worked for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management where she advised the federal government on employment-related issues.

Representative Experience
  • Has prevailed on motions for summary judgment in numerous cases. Recently represented a cosmetics company in a case involving breach of contract by a high level executive of the company. The cosmetic company prevailed on summary judgment and thereafter on appeal of the decision to the California Court of Appeal. In one case involving an international travel company, and another involving a large manufacturing company, the Defendants prevailed on motions for summary judgment in disability discrimination cases which included claims for failure to engage in the interactive process and to accommodate a disability.
  • Successfully represented companies at arbitration, trial, and before the Department of Labor and the Department of Fair Employment and Housing. Obtained a defense decision in a case involving a claim of breach of contract for an insurance broker and also prevailed on 13 employee claims that were brought against an airline leasing company for failure to pay wage and overtime.
  • Successfully enforced arbitration agreements where the signature of the plaintiff could not be located. In one case, the court held an evidentiary hearing where the credibility of the witnesses was critical to the ruling in favor of the Defendant. In another matter concerning a large law firm defendant, the decision of the trial court denying the motion to compel arbitration was overturned by the Court on appeal and arbitration was ordered.
