Dan's practice focuses on global employment law.

His client base is comprised of global companies ranging from mature start-ups to Fortune 100 companies across a broad spectrum of industries. Dan's focuses on all aspects of international employment matters, from day-to-day counseling to managing billion dollar transactions impacting tens of thousands of employees.  Dan also provides California clients with employment law counseling and advice.

As the former Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Employment Law and Litigation for a global financial services firm, Dan has a first-hand understanding of the issues that legal departments of large, multi-national corporations contend with on a daily basis. As Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, Dan provided a broad range of employment law counseling and litigation support to a diverse portfolio of the firm's businesses globally.

Additionally, Dan has served as Corporate Counsel Manager for Employment Law & Litigation at a leading global manufacturer of semiconductors in San Jose, California.  There he founded the in-house Employment Law and Litigation departments and oversaw the employment law and litigation matters globally.

Dan has also spent time in private practice, having founded his own firm, Waldman Law LLC, focused almost exclusively on global employment law matters. Earlier in his career, Dan practiced in the Employment Law Department of the San Francisco office of a global general services law firm where he was devoted to employment law litigation involving single plaintiffs, multiple plaintiffs, and class/collective actions. And he began his career in the Labor and Employment Department in the Palo Alto, California, office of a large global corporate law firm, primarily focused on employment law counseling for high technology companies.

Dan obtained his JD and MBA degrees cum laude from the University of Wisconsin.  His MBA is in Human Resource Management. Before obtaining his graduate degrees from Wisconsin, Dan received his bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester, as part of its Political Science Honors Program.

Representative Experience
  • Global Transactions.  Managed employment law matters of numerous global transactions, often exceeding billions of dollars and tens of thousands of employees across more than 60 countries.
  • Structure Global Outsourcing Transaction.  Counseled client on 23-country outsourcing transaction involving mix of business transfers and hiring of employees.
  • Global Acquisition/Divestiture. Assisted a large technology client in an IP-driven acquisition with employees in 13 countries resulting in mass dismissals on three continents.
  • Plant Closures & Mass Redundancies.  Assisted clients in facility closures and mass redundancies involving multi-country, complex, collective consultations.
  • Global Analysis for Go/No Go Decision.  Conducted comprehensive analysis of unique commercial service offering across 60 countries and act as "outsourced" executive participant in go/no-go decision.
  • Global Policy Implementation.  Advised on structure and implementation of range of policies across 80+ countries (e.g., employment law, anti-bribery, antitrust, etc.).
