About the Program
The Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act of 2008 (GINA) was signed into law in May of 2008 and took effect in November of 2009. Employers violate the law if they "request, require, or purchase an individual's genetic information." The EEOC recently issued its final rules interpreting GINA and giving employers guidance on key exceptions of the law.

Ford & Harrison is holding a breakfast briefing to help you ensure your company is in compliance with GINA and its regulations. Join Ford & Harrison attorneys Tim Bland and Robert Meyers as they discuss:

  • developing a GINA compliance policy;
  • how to handle employee's genetic information;
  • specific instructions for managers and supervisors;
  • how to address inadvertent disclosure of genetic information;
  • potential safe harbors; and
  • what medical information is not covered by GINA.
