MEMPHIS – Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce that Louis P. Britt III, Herbert E. Gerson, Arnold E. Perl, Delaine R. Smith and Keith A. Warren have been voted 2006 Mid-South “Super Lawyers” by their peers and Law & Politics magazine.

Attorneys are selected for inclusion in this magazine exclusively through peer voting. The rigorous voting process is designed to identify lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Only 5 percent of the lawyers in each state or region are named “Super Lawyers.”

Louis Britt is the managing partner of the firm’s Memphis office. He concentrates his practice on employment litigation and advice, representing private and public employers in a broad range of employment matters. He handles employment discrimination and harassment cases (Title VII, ADA, ADEA and FMLA), wage/hour matters, enforcement and defense of restrictive covenants contained in employment agreements, and employment-related torts. Mr. Britt is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a chapter editor for The Developing Labor Law, and is a frequent speaker on employment law matters. He received his law degree from Tulane University Law School (J.D., 1977).

Herb Gerson focuses his practice on managing all areas related to traditional labor and employment issues. He devotes much of his practice to counseling clients on avoiding employment discrimination claims and developing a positive work environment.

Mr. Gerson is a frequent speaker and author. He writes on labor and employment matters and co-chaired the Labor and Employment Committee of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association. He is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America and is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Gerson received his law degree from Emory University (J.D., 1973).

Arnold Perl focuses his practice on labor law and serving as a Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator. He has received local and national recognition – including being listed in The Best Lawyers in America for more than 20 years, a listing in International Who’s Who of Management Labour and Employment Lawyers and recognition in both Business Tennessee Magazine as one of the Top 100 of “Tennessee’s Most Powerful People” and named to “Who’s Who” in Memphis Magazine as one of the Top 100 Influential Leaders 2005-2006. He serves on a number of boards and is active in organizations throughout the Memphis community, including serving as Chairman of both the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority and the New Memphis Arena Public Building Authority. Mr. Perl received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law (LL.B., 1963).

Delaine Smith practices in all areas of employment law. She litigates claims of discrimination and harassment under Title VII, the ADA, the ADEA, and the FMLA, as well as state law tort and contract claims. Ms. Smith is active in the Federal Bar Association (Labor & Employment Section Officer and Governing Board; past chapter President), and is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. She received her law degree from the University of Memphis Law School (J.D., 1991).

Keith Warren has exclusively represented management in employment litigation and traditional labor law under the NLRA for the past 30 years. Nationwide, he has acted as lead counsel in more than 100 union representation cases, negotiated hundreds of union collective bargaining agreements, and handled numerous arbitrations and employment litigation trials. Mr. Warren is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Before entering private practice, Mr. Warren was a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Air Force and a trial attorney for the National Labor Relations Board. He received his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law (J.D., 1968).
