About the Program
For the most part, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA or the Act) lawsuits are grounded in employers' misunderstanding or misapplying the fundamental elements of the Act. Misinformation and bad advice abound. Knowledge and a strong understanding of the Act are the best weapons employers can have in their arsenals to avoid the FLSA pitfalls that ensnare so many.

Join FordHarrison attorneys Christine D. Hanley and Brooks Anderson for this workshop on FLSA Foundations featuring:

  • Coverage and Employment Relationships
    • Including employees and independent contractors, tests of the employment relationship, trainees and volunteers, the scope of the terms "employee" and "employer."
  • Hours Worked
    • Including work time defined, rest and meal periods, travel time, on-call time, and the like.
  • Wages and Overtime
    • Including types of compensation (hourly, salaried, piece rate, commission, etc.), the regular rate, blended rates, rate-in-effect, bonuses and other performance related compensation.
  • Exemptions
    • Including the White Collar exemptions, the Motor Carrier and Retail Sales Exemptions and other full-and partial-exemptions from the Act.
  • Record Keeping
    • Including timesheets, time cards, rounding, Safe Harbors, and "entries, edits and audits."

Continuing Education
