Date   Dec 30, 2008

ATLANTA - Bennet D. Alsher, a partner with the national labor and employment law firm of Ford & Harrison LLP, has recently been appointed to the National Commission of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

The National Commission includes more than 150 ADL volunteers throughout the United States. The work of the Commission spans various issues which include protecting civil rights, promoting American-Israel relations, training law enforcement personnel, and fighting extremism and bigotry against all races and religions. Alsher's commitment to the ADL is a long-standing one. Since 1995 he has been a board member of the ADL's Southeast Region which covers Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina. He has also served on the Southeast Region's Executive Committee since 2006 as Chairman of the Fact-Finding Committee and as a member of the Nominating Committee.

"The ADL's mission and work are relevant and important," Alsher said. "I am truly honored to be asked to serve on the ADL's National Commission and look forward to working with the Commission to help make a difference."

Since 1979, Alsher has concentrated his practice on labor and employment law, representing management exclusively. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia as well as the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. Alsher received his law degree from the Emory University School of Law.

The ADL was founded in 1913 to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all. Now one of the nation's premier civil rights agencies, ADL fights anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defends democratic ideals and protects civil rights for all.
