Ford & Harrison Sponsors Pro Bono Fellowship with Atlanta Legal Aid Society

Date   Jan 21, 2011

ATLANTA – Ford & Harrison, a national labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce the firm's sponsorship of the F. Carter Tate pro bono fellowship with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society (Legal Aid). Raanon Gal, counsel with Ford & Harrison's employment litigation practice, is the attorney being sponsored. The firm has sponsored five F. Carter Tate fellows to date.

During Gal's three month fellowship, Ford & Harrison will continue to provide Gal with full salary and benefits.

While working for the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Gal will take direct responsibility for a full case load representing impoverished clients in civil legal matters, including landlord-tenant disputes and domestic abuse situations.

"I am honored to be awarded the F. Carter Tate fellowship which affords me the opportunity to work with Atlanta Legal Aid Society attorneys and staff over the next several months," Gal said. "I am looking forward to the challenge with great anticipation and enthusiasm."

Ford & Harrison's Legal Aid fellowship was created in the early 1990's through the Atlanta Legal Aid Society to provide associates time to focus their efforts exclusively on pro bono initiatives. Ford & Harrison named its fellowship in honor and memory of one of its founding partners, F. Carter "Chip" Tate, after his death in 1999.

The Atlanta Legal Aid Society assists low-income Georgia residents with civil legal issues related to safety, education, health and fraud protection.
