Date   Apr 23, 2014
Location
RECORDED: Wednesday, April 23, 2014

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
After more than 30 years without a change, March 24, 2014 ushered in significant and sometimes overwhelming changes to Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Vietnam Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act. Federal contractors and subcontractors have entered a new world with additional record keeping obligations and, for the first time, numeric goals and benchmarks for individuals with disabilities and covered veterans. Join FordHarrison attorneys Karen Tyner and Linda Cavanna-Wilk, members of the firm's Affirmative Action/OFCCP Practice Group, as they discuss the actions that federal contractors should be taking under the new regulations. Among the key points being discussed will be:
  • Goals and  Benchmarks – Real or Aspirational?
  • Suggestions on how to encourage applicants and employees to self identify as disabled or veterans
  • Outreach efforts -- let's create a plan
  • The recordkeeping nightmare
  • During an audit, what could OFCCP request under new regulations?
  • How and what HR should communicate to upper management about AAPs, especially about goals

This program is pre-approved by HRCI for 1 hour of PHR, GPHR, and SPHR recertification credit.
