Ford & Harrison Attorney Appointed to Department of Labor

MEMPHIS – David A. Prather, senior counsel with the national labor and employment law firm Ford & Harrison LLP, has accepted the position of Senior Policy Advisor for the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor. The appointment will last through the end of the current Presidential term.

“We are very glad that David has been afforded this opportunity,” said Louis Britt, managing partner of Ford & Harrison’s Memphis office. “His expertise on wage and hour issues will be well utilized during his time with the Department of Labor.”

David Prather’s practice of law centers on employment discrimination litigation. He has considerable experience with FLSA litigation, including collective/class actions. Prather is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Memphis Bar Association’s Leadership Forum and subsequently sat on the Steering Committee. He also chairs the personnel committee for the Memphis Bar Association and is a youth mentor for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis. In 2007, he co-authored the book, Tennessee Employer’s Guide to Hiring, Firing and Discipline, published by the American Chamber of Commerce Resources, LLC. He is also AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Prather received his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1997.
