About the Program
Within two weeks the DOL announced two major changes that could affect more than 21.4 million working Americans and could cost their employers dearly. The DOL proposed a rule that, if finalized, would more than double the salary threshold for employees to qualify for the White Collar exemptions from $455 to $970 per week ($23,660 per year to $50,440). This change, or others that might be made as an alternative to it, could take effect by the end of the year. And then, just two weeks later, the DOL advised employers that when analyzing the independent contractor vs. employee status of a worker, "most workers are employees under the FLSA's broad definitions." What's going on!? FordHarrison attorneys Wade Ballard and Grant Close will detail these changes, and others yet to come, and provide practical advice to prepare for the DOL's assault on the wage and hour landscape as we know it.
