Lori Benton's practice encompasses the counseling and representing of employers in both Federal and state court involving all areas of employment law including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and contract dispute litigation.
She also defends employers in various Federal and state administrative forums, and in arbitrations. Lori represents companies in a variety of industries including government contactors, hospitality and retail, and health care.
Lori's litigation experience includes complex litigation such as class and collective actions, and multiparty litigation based on claims of sex, race, national origin, religious discrimination and harassment under Title VII, as well as claims under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Equal Pay Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Florida's Whistleblower Act, Florida's Civil Rights Act of 1992 and Sections 1983 and 1981. Lori's experience also includes trade secret, non-compete and tortious interference litigation, in addition to other tort and contract litigation arising from the employment relationship.
Additionally, Lori provides counseling and advice to clients to find the best solutions to avoid litigation and to address day-to-day employment issues. Lori has presented numerous seminars on employment law issues.
Lori is admitted to practice before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She is a member of the American, Federal, Florida and Orange County Bar Associations and each association's Labor and Employment sections.
