Angela Cummings is a skillful employment attorney who successfully, effectively and efficiently represents clients.

Angela has exclusively practiced employment law on the side of management for more than 20 years. She litigates federal and state court cases arising under Title VII, the ADA, the ADEA, the FMLA, the FLSA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other federal and state employment laws. Angela also successfully represents employers in arbitrations, mediations and conciliations.

Angela has experience trying both federal and state court cases before juries. She also routinely represents employers in arbitrations, mediations and conciliations. Angela successfully handles state and federal administrative agency charges and complaints (including those filed with the EEOC, USDOL and NCDOL). Angela also has experience litigating class and collective actions, including wage and hour cases, as well as experience handling EEOC systemic investigations and Commissioner charges.

In addition to being a strong litigator, Angela understands that preventing lawsuits and charges is important to employers. Accordingly, she provides strategic advice and counsel to her clients so that they can avoid litigation where possible. She knows her clients, and their industries, inside and out, so her advice is always practical and meaningful.

As another tool to avoid litigation, Angela provides useful and practical training to her clients’ Boards of Directors, Human
Resources professionals, executives, supervisors and employees. She also drafts policies and procedures to assist clients with streamlining their processes and operations while also ensuring legal compliance.

Prior to opening the Charlotte office of FordHarrison as its Office Managing Partner, Angela was a partner at another large labor and employment boutique law firm.

  • Obtained defense verdicts in multiple discrimination jury trials in federal court.

  • Achieved great results in several EEOC systemic investigations involving criminal background checks, including No Cause dismissals and favorable settlements.

  • Acquired numerous summary judgments in North Carolina on behalf of her clients.

  • Obtained multiple Fourth Circuit affirmations of complete Rule 12 dismissals in discrimination and retaliation cases.
