A one-day seminar proudly co-sponsored by EAF and Ford & Harrison LLP.
About the Program
The proposed Employee Free Choice Act is anticipated to pass this year and will:
- Eliminate secret ballot elections and institute a union whenever a majority of employees sign union authorization cards. (This could be occurring in your company now since signed cards remain valid for a year.)
- Give federally-appointed arbitrators the authority to write the terms of a binding union contract when the parties do not agree.
- Increase penalties for infractions up to $20,000 per occurrence.
Corporate America, from Main Street to Wall Street, will be exposed to more aggressive, better funded and increasingly sophisticated strategies designed to expand union membership.
- Executives, Human Resources Professionals, Supervisors and Managers must be knowledgeable and prepared for the eventuality. It is paramount that steps are taken now to meet the new challenges.
IS YOUR COMPANY PREPARED TO MEET THIS CHALLENGE? ASK YOURSELF:
- What if a union started trying to organize your employees today?
- Do your managers and supervisors understand their role and do they know how to intelligently and factually discuss the subject of unions with their employees?
- What new union tactics can be expected?
- Have you reviewed and updated your no-solicitation/distribution policy taking into consideration high-tech organizing in this electronic age?
- Have you developed or updated your union position statement?
CREATING AND MAINTAINING A POSITIVE CORPORATE CULTURE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER:
The following will be explored:
- Why employees turn to unions
- What's important to employees
