About the Program
Motivated by recent cancer diagnoses among two prominent members, the George Edgecomb Bar Association (GEBA) has agreed to partner and share its annual fundraising event with Moffitt Cancer Center's George Edgecomb Society (GES) to raise funds for cancer research.
During its inaugural year, GES raised more than $600,000 in cash and pledges. The funds are being used to make the first two $50,000 grant awards to support cancer health disparities research among blacks/African Americans. GEBA’s 35th Annual Scholarship Banquet is historically a premiere event, focused on raising scholarship funds. This year’s partnership will include the added goal of raising $75,000 to support additional cancer research grants for the 2019 cycle.
The keynote address will be delivered by sports analyst, Hall of Famer, author and philanthropist Dick Vitale, who will undoubtedly bring his trademark energy and enthusiasm. All George Edgecomb Society members and donors are invited to attend.
