Katie Basch is an Associate with Kastner, Westman & Wilkins, which is an affiliate of FordHarrison.

Katie, an Akron native, understands on a personal level the many challenges employers face on a daily basis. This perspective comes from being part of a family that owns and operates a local business. Because of this experience, Katie approaches each client's issue with a problem-solving and solution-driven perspective to help clients accomplish their goals and provide a solution, not just an answer.

Katie enjoys the day-to-day interactions with employers, learning about their organization and helping them solve their employment issues, even the issues they might not have realized existed. This involves a thorough and comprehensive approach to handling each client's issues, as well as timely, efficient and well-communicated responses.

Katie's main focus is in the area of wage and hour compliance, specifically advising, conducting internal audits and litigation. Katie also frequently works with employers to update or create compliant handbooks and social media policies that work for and fit the goals of the employer. Katie's other areas of practice include investigating and defending discrimination and sexual harassment claims, advising employers regarding various Americans with Disabilities Act and Family and Medical Leave Act issues, drafting, reviewing and enforcing employment agreements, severance agreements, and non-compete agreements, unemployment compensation hearings, management and employee training, and employer compliance with the Affordable Care Act. Katie has also represented employers at all levels of the workers' compensation process, including Industrial Commission hearings and court appeals.
