NEW YORK – Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm, announced Wednesday the addition of Jeffrey S. Ashendorf, who has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner. Ashendorf will be focusing on ERISA and tax issues within Ford & Harrison’s national employee benefits practice. Prior to joining Ford & Harrison, Ashendorf was with Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft LLP for twenty-four years.

“I am very happy that Jeffrey has joined our firm,” said Stephen Zweig, head of Ford & Harrison’s Employee Benefits Group. “Jeff’s knowledge of ERISA and tax law and years of experience in these areas will enhance our rapidly growing employee benefits practice.”

Jeffrey Ashendorf focuses his practice on ERISA and executive compensation. As part of his practice, Jeffrey designs and drafts all types of qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation plans and welfare benefit plans. He also regularly advises clients on tax and ERISA matters affecting plan administration and compliance; design and operation of executive compensation plans and arrangements; ERISA fiduciary responsibility matters; employee benefit plans for tax-exempt and governmental employers, including Section 403(b) and Section 457 plans; and multiemployer plans. In addition, Jeffrey counsels clients on various employment-related tax matters including application of the employment tax rules of the Internal Revenue Code.

Prior to entering private practice in 1984, Jeffrey served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at The Bowery Savings Bank in New York City, and before that was with the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. He received his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in 1974.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to join Ford & Harrison during this period of exceptional growth,” Ashendorf said. “I am looking forward to having my clients benefit from the firm’s national practice and their steadfast commitment to quality client service.”
