OUR PEOPLE

Hilda Aguilar focuses her practice on helping human resource leaders and in-house lawyers with employment-related issues, including employee discipline and discharge, accommodations and leave, allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and policy review.

She has successfully defended against individual claims for retaliation, harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and Unruh Civil Rights Act.  She has obtained summary judgment and prevailed at trial in Los Angeles Superior Court on employment related claims.

While in law school, Hilda served as a Student Attorney for the Washington College of Law General Practice Clinic successfully reversing an administrative ruling.  Hilda also served as a Summer Associate in the Corporate Group for Dentons in Madrid, Spain assisting in due diligence work for a contract financing the production of a television program, drafting exclusive distribution agreements, and gathering documentation for sale of a company and its subsidiaries.

Hilda serves as a board member for the Brown Club of Los Angeles assisting in legal matters.

  • Obtained summary judgment in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Hospital on claims for harassment and discrimination based on sexual orientation, disability discrimination, failure to engage in good faith interactive process, failure to provide reasonable accommodation, failure to take all reasonable steps to prevent harassment and discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination in violation of California Fair Employment and Housing Act, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

  • Obtained summary judgment in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Hospital on claims for harassment and discrimination based on gender and race, retaliation, and wrongful termination in violation of California Fair Employment and Housing Act.

  • Obtained summary judgment in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Restaurant Franchisees on claims of age discrimination and violation of public policy.

  • Served as second chair during 11-day trial in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Restaurant Franchisees and obtained defense verdict on claims for Unruh Civil Rights Act violations and negligent training and supervision.
