"Business and Human Rights: The UN Adopts Recommendations for Companies" - Complimentary E-Briefing

Date   Jun 24, 2011
Time   12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Eastern

About the Program
If your company purchases goods from abroad for resale in the U.S., sells goods or has operations outside the U.S., you may ultimately be affected by recent actions taken by the UN. This webinar will help prepare your company for these changes.

At its session in June 2011, the UN Human Rights Council will adopt a new set of business and human rights guidelines officially known as the "Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights." While the Guiding Principles are not legally binding, they are expected to have a significant influence in the coming years and have already been incorporated into a number of other international instruments, including the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the IFC Performance Standards and ISO 26000 Guidance Standard on Social Responsibility.

The recommendations set a benchmark for companies, and all corporations will need to understand how the recommendations will affect your company. This one-hour webinar presented by Adam Greene, Vice President of Labor Affairs and Corporate Responsibility for the United States Coucil for International Business, will cover:

  • The content of the Guiding Principles;
  • The recommendations to companies;
  • Supply chain implications; and
  • Possible implementation mechanisms.
