Ford & Harrison Adds Mark A. Konkel to New York Office

Date   Feb 2, 2009

NEW YORK – Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm, announces the addition of Mark A. Konkel as senior counsel in the firm's New York office. Konkel formerly practiced with Winston & Strawn in New York.

Konkel concentrates his practice in labor and employment counseling and litigation. He advises large and small clients, both in the private and public sectors, in all aspects of labor and employment law and relations, including labor and employment-related litigation, arbitration, counseling, collective bargaining, and employment training.

Konkel's employment litigation and counseling practice focuses on proactively advising clients on a broad range of employment law and human resources issues and on providing effective representation when employment disputes arise before courts and administrative agencies. He regularly counsels and advocates for clients on employment discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, harassment and whistleblower issues and disputes; on human resources issues, including employee performance, counseling, discipline, accommodation and leave; on business expansions and reductions-in-force; on wage and hour compliance and litigation issues; and on unfair competition, restrictive covenants and trade secret issues. His employment litigation practice involves extensive interactions with adversaries, clients, and federal and state administrative agencies, including the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, and various state and local administrative agencies.

Konkel's labor law practice focuses on preparing management to respond to all phases of union interaction, including union organizing efforts and ongoing collective bargaining, as well as the various forms of labor disputes – both in legal forums and in the marketplace – that often arise before, during and after labor negotiations. Mr. Konkel also has broad experience arbitrating labor disputes over hiring, discipline, promotion, termination, layoff, and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.

"We are very excited to have Mark join our office," said Ken Stein, managing partner of Ford & Harrison's New York office. "His expertise on issues related to both labor and employment counseling and litigation will be of great benefit to our clients."

Konkel received his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York Law School in 2000, where he was Executive Notes and Comments Editor for the New York Law School Journal of International and Comparative Law.
