Date   Jan 24, 2008

TAMPA – William E. Grob, Tampa based attorney with the national law firm of Ford & Harrison, has been named Legislative Chairman of the Suncoast Human Resource Management Association (SHRMA). In this capacity Grob will be working to keep the membership apprised of any and all legal issues that arise throughout the year.

“We are pleased to welcome William Grob as the 2008 Legislative Chair for SHRMA,” said Lynn Heckler, President of SHRMA. “We look forward to continuing to keep SHRMA members informed with timely and relevant updates on legislative developments affecting the Human Resources profession.”

Bill Grob focuses his practice exclusively on labor and employment law representing management largely in trial and arbitration. His practice involves enforcing and defending non-compete covenants, litigating traditional employment discrimination and wage/hour issues and representing schools and educational institutions. He has been a featured speaker at numerous employment and education law-related seminars for managers and organizations throughout Florida and the Southeast. Bill formerly served as a Member of the Board of Trustees for the Polk Theatre in Lakeland for six years.

Before entering law school, Bill worked in human resource management. During law school, he served as a law clerk for the Georgia Supreme Court and Georgia Court of Appeals, and worked in the labor and employment section of the Federal Department of Health and Human Services Regional Office of General Counsel in Atlanta. He received his J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law in 2000.

“Central Florida’s ability to grow and prosper is contingent upon maintaining a business friendly environment in our region,” Grob said. “I am very excited to have the opportunity to enhance the knowledge base of the membership with regard to important legal issues which employers face every day.”

The Suncoast Human Resource Management Association (SHRMA) is a local chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). SHRMA’s mission is to provide a forum for professional development opportunities, to support human resource professionals, and reinforce/endorse the values of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) at the local level.
