Ford & Harrison Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Date   Oct 14, 2010

ATLANTA – Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment firm, will be highlighting the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at a luncheon on October 15 by hosting, A Conversation of Struggles and Success, featuring two successful women of Hispanic descent, Joyce Fleming and Maria Hernandez. The luncheon will take place in all of Ford & Harrison's offices for attorneys and staff.

Joyce Fleming, a successful partner in Ford & Harrison's Atlanta office who heads the firm's immigration practice, has mentored Maria Hernandez, an 18-year-old Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) member. Maria has overcome incredible odds to win the Youth of the Year competition for the Southeast region. Maria recently competed for the National Youth of the Year competition in Washington D.C. and had the opportunity to meet President Obama. Maria just began her freshman year at Eastern Tennessee State University and hopes to one day become a neonatal nurse.

"We are excited about hosting A Conversation of Struggles and Success," said Dawn Siler-Nixon, Ford & Harrison's Diversity and Inclusion Partner. "I can't think of a more unique way to honor the great accomplishments Hispanic Americans have made that directly impact our firm and our communities."
