MELBOURNE - Ford & Harrison, a national labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce that Lucian E. Dervan has joined the firm’s Melbourne office as an associate. He previously served as law clerk to the Honorable Phyllis A. Kravitch, Senior Judge with the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and began his career with King & Spalding, an Atlanta based general practice firm.

“As the only national labor and employment law firm with operations on the Space Coast, we were looking for an attorney with a unique background and specific expertise,” said Andrew Hament, managing partner of the Melbourne office of Ford & Harrison. “Lucian’s experience defending government contractors and healthcare companies in qui tam actions, other complex litigation, government investigations and similar issues will enhance our highly specialized focus and enable us to maintain our commitment to quality client service.”

Lucian Dervan will counsel and represent management in all areas of employment and labor law. Along with traditional employment matters, such as discrimination, sexual harassment, violence in the workplace, and discipline and discharge, Dervan will counsel and represent government contractors, healthcare organizations and other employers in internal and government investigations with regard to potential criminal or other improper conduct by employees, qui tam and other whistleblower litigation, and compliance reviews. Drawing on his experience as a law clerk, Dervan will also represent corporations in appeals in state and federal court.

Dervan has authored several pieces for prominent legal publications, including most recently for the Oklahoma Law Review and the Journal of Southern Legal History. He graduated with High Honors from the Emory University School of Law.

“Ford & Harrison is fast earning the reputation as the preeminent labor and employment law firm in Florida and across the country,” Dervan said. “I am very glad to have been invited to be a part of this firm during such an exciting time.”

Dervan went on to state that he and his wife Anne, a Melbourne native, are thrilled to be on the Space Coast. “Melbourne is everything we could want in a community and we couldn’t be happier about being part of such a strong and vibrant city.”
