Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm, announced Monday the addition of Daniel T. Sulton as partner in the firm’s Spartanburg office. Sulton is a former Assistant General Counsel for SCANA Corporation, a Fortune 500 energy company with operations in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.

While at SCANA, he advised management at all levels on a broad range of employment, employee benefits and executive compensation matters. He also drafted executive and other employment agreements, severance agreements, nondisclosure agreements and third-party professional services agreements. Additionally, Sulton provided ERISA compliance and employment law training to supervisors and high-level managers as well as handling employment and benefits related government inquiries, administrative charges and litigation against the company. He also assisted SCANA in its successful implementation of an on-site pharmacy and wellness program.

“We are excited that Daniel is joining the firm,” said Clay Keim, managing partner of the firm’s Spartanburg office. “His experience as an in-house attorney along with his expertise with welfare and pension benefit plans will be a real asset to our clients.”

Before SCANA, Sulton served as a Manager of Payroll and Benefits for Columbia International University and Attorney with Palmetto Legal Services. After graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1998, he clerked for the Hon. Donald W. Beatty, currently a Justice on the South Carolina Supreme Court.
