MEMPHIS- The Government of Japan officially announced on April 28 that distinguished attorney
Arnold Perl has been honored with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, in recognition of his contributions to the U.S.-Japan relationship in Tennessee.
The conferment of the decoration is a privilege of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.
The prestigious title recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Japan’s ties with foreign nations. Mr. Perl was recognized primarily for his work in co-founding the Japan-Tennessee Society and in organizing and chairing the Japan-America Society of Tennessee.
Mr. Masaru Sakato, Consul General of Japan in New Orleans, conveyed to Mr. Perl these congratulatory words of His Excellency Mr. Taro Aso, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan:
“Please accept my sincerest congratulations upon the conferment of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, in recognition of your outstanding contribution, and my best wishes for your continued good health and happiness.”
Mr. Perl has worked diligently to foster economic ties between business leaders in Tennessee and Japan. He wrote the forward to the book “Managing with Respect,” which was published in Japan, and is also the co-author of the widely acclaimed leadership book, “Simple Solutions: Harness the Power of Passion and Simplicity to Get Results.”
Mr. Perl is active in the Memphis professional, civic and religious communities. He is chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority, secretary and counsel of the Memphis Regional Chamber of Commerce and president of Temple Israel.
Mr. Perl founded the former law firm of Young & Perl, PLC, which enjoyed a national practice in labor and employment law. He is currently a partner in the law firm of Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm with 18 branch offices in the U.S.
Consul General Sakato will present the award to Mr. Perl at a formal ceremony in Memphis, the date of which will be announced.
