Date   Feb 4, 2015

FordHarrison, one of the nation's largest management-side labor and employment law firms, is proud to announce that Lavern Wilson, a partner in the firm's Tampa office, has been chosen to be a member of the 2015 class of Fellows, participating in a landmark program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.

"This is a prestigious honor for Lavern, and she is a perfect fit for LCLD," said Tracey Jaensch, the Regional Managing Partner for the firm's Florida offices. "She joins a talented and renowned group of attorneys from diverse backgrounds who will help expand diversity initiatives within the U.S. legal profession and justice system."

According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants "an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD's top leadership."

"The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity is an innovative and highly-respected organization, and it is a privilege to be chosen as a 2015 LCLD Fellow," said Lavern. "I am looking forward to being a part of the positive change in my community and the legal field, alongside some of my most esteemed peers."

Lavern concentrates her practice on defending employers in discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, whistle-blower, retaliation, employment/business torts and wrongful termination litigation, in both state and federal courts. She also represents employers in defending charges of discrimination before the EEOC, state and local human rights commissions. Lavern has experience in representing employers in a variety of industries, including airline, banking, cable installation, correction, healthcare, insurance, retail, restaurant, and not-for-profit industries.

Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 220 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession. The LCLD Fellows program, which has trained more than 600 mid-career attorneys since 2011, is one of LCLD's most important initiatives. For information, visit www.lcldnet.org.
