Although global markets today face numerous challenges, companies increasingly turn to international expansion for growth. A decision to expand outside of the US requires careful strategic analysis that focuses on the risks of non-compliance with laws and regulations that apply to international operations such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA"). The FCPA prohibits any direct or indirect payment to a foreign government official or entity for the purpose of influencing any act or decision in order to obtain or retain business and is, along with other international anticorruption laws, being aggressively enforced.
