Retired General Counsel From Delta Air Lines Joins Ford & Harrison

ATLANTA - Ford & Harrison, a national labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce that Robert S. Harkey has joined the firm as Of Counsel. He will concentrate his practice on airline-related legal matters. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Harkey served as Senior Vice President-General Counsel and Secretary for Delta Air Lines, Inc.

Mr. Harkey joined Delta's legal staff as Attorney in 1968, after practicing with a private law firm, and was elevated to General Attorney in 1974. He held numerous positions of increasing responsibilities within the company and was named Vice President-General Counsel in 1988, Senior Vice President-General Counsel in 1990 and Senior Vice President-General Counsel and Secretary in 1994. He retired from Delta on December 31, 2003.

Mr. Harkey received his B.A. degree from Emory University in 1963 and a LL.B. degree from Emory University Law School in 1965. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia (former Chairman of the Corporate Counsel Section), the Atlanta and American Bar Associations, the ABA Committee of Corporate General Counsels and the American Society of Corporate Secretaries. He is Chair of the Board of CHRIS Homes, Inc., an organization that provides support to abused children. He is also a past member of the Emory University Board of Visitors, the Emory Law School Council, the Board of Trustees of the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta and the Law Council of the Air Transport Association of America of which he is a former chairman.
