About the Program
Body piercings and tattoos. Clothing and hairstyle trends. Culturally sensitive issues such as hair texture, head coverings, and other religious attire. Can employers prohibit some, all, or none of these? Can employers make employment decisions based on size, weight or, even subjective attractiveness of employees or prospective employees? This session will explore a variety of appearance-based issues that employers face every day and discuss situations in which business culture and necessity may clash with discrimination laws based on race, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, and more.
