ABOUT THE PROGRAM
In its Strategic Enforcement Plan, the EEOC has identified coverage of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals under Title VII's sex discrimination provisions as one of its six national priorities.  In furtherance of its commitment to this issue, in March 2016, the EEOC brought its first sex discrimination cases based on sexual orientation. LGBT issues have been at the forefront of discussion in Congress, the Supreme Court, federal agencies, state and local legislatures and the workplace. While some consensus has emerged, the issues surrounding gender identity in the workplace are complex and multidimensional and go far beyond the "which bathroom" discussion of old.

Join FordHarrison attorneys Nancy Van der Veer Holt and Cindy Cieslak as they discuss and explain the cultural landscape and legal developments surrounding LGBT issues in the workplace and further discusses employer best practices on this developing legal issue.  Nancy and Cindy will focus on terminology, state and federal law and federal contractor regulations impacting LGBT rights, recent cases interpreting Title VII in relation to LGBT discrimination and restroom access, and engage attendees in a discussion of issues they have confronted and potential resolutions to help attendees stay ahead of this ever-changing legal landscape.
