"MMGMA Webinar: Employee Free Choice Act - Organized Labor's Assault on Workplace Democracy"

Date   Feb 26, 2009
Time   11:30 a.m. CST - 1:00 p.m. CST

Hospitals and clinics are under increasing pressure from federal and state governments, private insurers and consumers to ensure that the highest quality health care is delivered in the most cost-effective manner. Enactment of the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) would impose significant and unnecessary challenges for health care employers. At the same time, these same employers are a prime target of organized labor.

Considered organized labor's "top legislative priority" for 2009, EFCA would eliminate the secret ballot election, making it much easier for unions to organize non-union employers. EFCA also would allow a government-appointed arbitrator to dictate the terms and conditions of employment for those newly organized employers. Non-union employers, particularly in the health care industry, need to be prepared for EFCA and take steps NOW, through proactive employee relations strategies, to avoid the potential negative impact of this law.

Join Minnesota Medical Group Management Association (MMGMA) and Ford & Harrison attorneys John Bowen, Charlie Feuss, and Tina Syring-Petrocchi - labor relations attorneys with combined experience of more than 60 years - for a webinar discussion about the EFCA and what this means for your health care organization.
