Hilda Aguilar is an employment defense attorney who partners with employers to effectively navigate high-risk workplace disputes and compliance challenges.

She advises HR leaders and in-house counsel on complex issues involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour compliance, and employee leave and accommodation, helping clients minimize litigation exposure while maintaining effective workplace policies. Hilda has successfully defended employers in litigation involving all of these claims, securing summary judgment, dismissals, and defense verdicts. She is experienced in all phases of litigation, including trial, and has served as a second chair in a multi-week jury trial resulting in a defense verdict.

Hilda regularly represents healthcare systems, hospitality employers, manufacturers, retailers, and other multi-location businesses in California. In addition to litigation, she provides day-to-day counseling to HR professionals on employee discipline, investigations, and policy development. Known for her practical, business-focused approach, Hilda works closely with clients to develop proactive solutions that reduce legal risk. Fluent in Spanish and proficient in French, Hilda works effectively with diverse workforces and multinational clients.

  • Obtained summary judgment in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Hospital on claims for harassment and discrimination based on sexual orientation, disability discrimination, failure to engage in good faith interactive process, failure to provide reasonable accommodation, failure to take all reasonable steps to prevent harassment and discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination in violation of California Fair Employment and Housing Act, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

  • Obtained summary judgment in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Hospital on claims for harassment and discrimination based on gender and race, retaliation, and wrongful termination in violation of California Fair Employment and Housing Act.

  • Obtained summary judgment in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Restaurant Franchisees on claims of age discrimination and violation of public policy.

  • Served as second chair during 11-day trial in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Restaurant Franchisees and obtained defense verdict on claims for Unruh Civil Rights Act violations and negligent training and supervision.
